To be honest this rental in Launceston in Australia made me feel pretty safe in the end. I booked the car through QEEQ. I picked up the car around the morning of 19 February 2026 in Launceston. I chose an MG 3 from East Coast Car Rentals with automatic transmission. For a business trip it was an easy small car. I also bought their AXA Full Coverage at that time. I just thought it was one more layer of protection and it made me feel calm. I did not think too much about it. The real problem came near the end of the trip. I had to visit clients and also go back to the hotel to work on files. I was quite tired. One or two days before the return day I was parking and reversing the car. I did not judge the distance well. The back of the car scraped a low concrete block. The damage looked small but my heart still sank. I thought I might need to pay a lot of money. On the evening of 26 February 2026 I went to return the car. The counter staff checked the car and of course wrote down that scratch. They told me there would be a damage fee. They said it would be several tens of Australian dollars. I nodded but I was still worried. I was afraid there might be extra charges later. Then I remembered I had bought AXA Full Coverage. I felt a bit calmer and thought at least it would not become a huge and scary bill. After I flew back to Hong Kong I started to receive bills from the rental company. The car damage fee was 80 AUD. When I looked at the bill I had mixed feelings. The amount was not very high and I could accept it. But I still wondered if the insurance would really help me get this money back. I sent the documents and the bill to the customer service and said this was about a car damage claim. They would talk to the insurance company. There was some waiting time in the middle. I was busy with my own work and many meetings and emails. I still remembered this case though. Sometimes when I thought about it I felt a bit uneasy. I told myself that if the claim failed I would just pay the 80 AUD myself. Later the customer service told me the rental company had finished the damage check and the final fee was 80 AUD. They also said the rental company had processed a refund to me in the first few days of April. I checked my own statement and saw the refund was really there. At that moment I felt much more relaxed. After that they contacted me again and said the claim with AXA Full Coverage was approved and they would pay based on the actual loss. When I saw this message I was a bit surprised in a good way. I was afraid the process would be very complicated. It turned out the claim went quite smoothly. All my worry about trouble or about being refused just went away. I felt very glad that I bought this insurance at the start. When I think about it now if I did not buy AXA Full Coverage I would probably feel very stressed about this small scratch and be very nervous at the return counter. Now I did have a small accident but the whole process showed me how big the difference is when you have extra protection. For someone like me who often travels for business peace of mind is more important than saving a little money. This small car damage in the end became a case that was covered by insurance and it makes me feel more confident when I rent cars in other places in the future.
