When I paid I checked my credit card and it really only showed that 1 dollar. I stared at it for a while and kept thinking maybe there will be some strange big charge later. During the next days I kept checking my credit card app. There was no random extra fee so I started to relax. I was actually a bit surprised. I did not need to pay the full amount at once and there was no interest or anything. A few days before my trip the rest of the money was taken automatically. I was packing my bag when the payment notice popped up on my phone. I checked the amount and it was the same as my booking price so I just went back to packing. I felt pretty calm and did not feel like my card was getting drained in one shot. For a solo traveler like me there are already many things to pay for before the trip. If the full car rental cost was taken at the start I would probably sit there and count my budget again and again. With this way I pay 1 dollar first to lock the car and then let the rest be charged later. I feel much less pressure and my credit card limit also feels more free. When I think about this booking the thing that stays in my mind most is not really the car but this One-Dollar Freeze payment plan. It made the whole booking feel light like I just saved my spot first and then slowly finished the payment without stress.
