At the end of this trip I was still a bit surprised in my head. How did I lock in a big car in Orlando by paying only one dollar at the start. Shouldn’t this be more complicated. I was traveling for business and needed a large SUV like a Chevrolet Suburban at Orlando airport around ten at night on May 22. I had many client visits and meetings planned so the car could not have any problem. So why did I dare to pick the one dollar option. When I was paying I kept asking myself this. If I paid the full amount right away and my schedule changed or the budget was not approved yet my credit card would feel very heavy. Then I saw the One-Dollar Freeze choice and I decided to try it. When I placed the booking my card was charged only one dollar. I checked the bank text again and asked myself in my mind. Is it really this simple. Is there some hidden fee. In the next few days I kept thinking about it. I opened my email again and checked the booking. The rental company was Budget and the car group was a seven seat SUV which was what I needed. The money part stayed quiet. I did not see any strange charge and that made me relax a bit. When the travel date came closer I started to worry again. When will they take the rest of the money. Will there be a mistake. Will the booking suddenly fail. In the last one or two days before pick up I saw on my card that the remaining rental amount was taken. The price was the same as the one I saw when I booked. Not one dollar more. I then told myself in my head that this is how it works. I had thought there would be interest or some extra fee but there was none. For someone who travels for business a lot this means my credit card pressure is much lower. When I landed in Orlando at night the lights in the airport were a bit dim. I walked to the Budget counter with my laptop bag and suitcase and I was thinking that I was glad I only paid one dollar at the start. At that time my company reimbursement was not finished yet so a full charge would have looked very bad on my bill. At the counter the staff checked my booking and everything was normal. I did not need to explain anything special. I asked myself again if I would use this way next time. My answer was yes. As a business traveler I am most afraid of crazy bills or large holds on my card too early. This experience was the opposite. From booking to the final charge the process felt easy. There was no interest and no strange fee and my credit card did not feel under attack. The rental itself went fine and I did not even need to talk to customer service about any problem so my feeling about QEEQ as a platform stayed quite good. For me the biggest point of this story is that renting a car can start light. I used one dollar to lock in the car and then paid the rest automatically when the trip was really happening. For someone who flies often for work this way of paying feels much more relaxed.
